Part FFF of this Budget Bill amends the Retirement and Social Security Law (RSSL) to reduce the normal retirement age of Tier 3 Uniform Sanitation and Uniform Correction 22-Year Plan members to the age they complete, or would have completed, 20 years of service.
Part FFF is effective May 26, 2026.
Part XX of this Budget Bill amends the RSSL to reduce the Basic Member Contributions (BMCs) of Tier 6 NYCERS members, except for Transit 25/55 and TBTA 20-Year Plan members, as follows:

Part XX also extends the exclusion of certain overtime and compensation wages from the annual wage calculations used to determine the member’s salary band through January 1, 2029.
Furthermore, Part XX increases the Tier 6 Overtime Ceiling to $30,000 for Calendar Year 2027 and increases the ceiling by 3% each subsequent year.
Part XX is effective May 26, 2026,however, the change in BMC rates become effective October 1, 2026 and the Tier 6 Overtime Ceiling increase becomes effective January 1, 2027.
Chapter 157 of the Laws of 2026 – Increases certain special accidental death benefits.
This law amends the Retirement and Social Security Law (RSSL) § 361-a(c) and General Municipal Law (GML) § 208-f(c) by increasing the deceased member’s salary used in the computation of the special accidental death benefit by adding to it an additional percentage. The beneficiaries of the following NYCERS members are covered: Correction Officers, Housing and Transit Police, Uniformed Sanitation members, certain EMTs and TBTA members.
This law is effective as of July 1, 2026.
